Kenneth Pangborn was active on FidoNET, and often could be found disrupting discussions on the "Politics" and "Family Law" echoes. His tactics of lies, threats and harassment were present even then. Here is an accounting of Ken's actions by someone who remembers him from FidoNET.
In 1997, Ken began attacking the talk.rape newsgroup, stating that he thought women got raped because they deserved it, and that they were making a big deal out of nothing. His harassment came to a peak on December 7, 1997, when he threatened to rape Anastasia Alexander, a newsgroup regular.
For no adequately explored reason, Kenneth Pangborn brought his harassment campaign against Anastasia Alexander to the Milwaukee regional newsgroup. He blasted the newsgroup with his off-topic flames and threats for months, rendering the group nearly unusable. He was singlehandedly responsible for the retromoderation of the group in late 1998.
A productive father's rights discussion group, in which Ken sought to defame and discredit several of the regular father's activists who post there. He likely did this because he felt they were a threat to his "A-team" business.
Group dedicated to online privacy, and discussions amongst the people who run the hardware and software to make it possible. Ken came to the group in the fall of 2000, demanding that the remailers block any postings which made any reference to "Ken Pangborn". When they refused to do so, Ken began a campaign of lies against several of the leading server operators in the group.
These attacks were also notable because they gained Ken a Kook of the Month award for September 2000.
Ken's attacking and flaming in the alt.atheism group began when he took offense to members of that group "crossposting" messages into soc.men, which Ken believes to be "his" newsgroup. When several alt.atheism readers began calling Ken on his lies and harassment, they coincidentially began having racist forgeries posted in their names. On March 8, 2005, Ken outted himself as the forger, when he mistakenly routed one of his posts under a forged ID.
